Idle Night @@ mojo
we went to mojo last night to attend what was named idle nite.. where poets and writers from all around gathered to share their works. it was a wonderful night and everyone who shared were absolutely amazing. these people take writing seriously and when listening to them it was clear that every little word was from the heart. it was so good i totally forgot to take pics of the performers. heh.
yup. THAT good.
the featured performer was a Penang born lady based in London named Francesca Beard. she took us to the moon and back with her hilarious take on life, both her own and ours. her genius in arranging words to create truly amazing works of art is simply astounding. again, in my wide-eyed awe, i forgot to take a pic. heh.
and again, yup. THAT good.
we took pics during the 1st half of the break though. the interior of mojo is a really nice place to be with. i LOVED the wallpaper in this next pic.
***fom left: elle, cyn, aaron, monique, cheryl and debra..***
towards the end of the night there was a open mike session where members of the audience can show their poetic skills (or lack thereof). after much, MUCH persuasion, mon agreed to captivate the audience, which she did with aplomb. her poems made the audience sit up and listen. very charismatic, this girl. :)
***monique showing her stuff behind the mic***
though i brought the poem from the previous post with me 'just in case', i didn't actually plan to go up but i went up anyways because mon called up my name. -____-' seriously. my palms were sweating and i went all nervous. when i get nervous i have extreme difficulty stringing words together to create sentences.. but thankfully i was ok, though according to my friends, the piece of paper i was holding was shaking like a leaf.
***i did this for the late baby emmanuel.. and it was worth it. each and every scary second of it. i should do this more often. present my literary work i mean, not be scared.***
nevertheless, they said i did fabulous and it's nice to be appreciated. i went up not expecting anything but i came down with people applauding me and not only that, i felt as if a great weight was lifted off of my shoulders. i can move on now.
